With Chilton and Grosjean confirmed for next year, there are three seats left:
    - Two at Force India, although Di Resta is believed to have a contract for 2013 already
    - One at Caterham

@DaveF1 I’m hoping for that exact scenario.

Why do you hope that Petrov stays at Caterham?

I’ve always believed Petrov do be a good driver, fast but erratic in his first season much like Maldonado, which he got better in his second scoring a podium and almost a second before he decided to rally cross his way into a broken steering wheel, and then the cars performance dropped off considerably for the rest of the year.

He managed to match Kovalainen 10/10 this year in terms of race finishes even though he finished 2 less through no fault of his own too. I’m probably talking him up a bit but i’m fond of Heikki too but i just don’t think he wants to race so far down the field anymore so i believe if the team wants to keep any sort of consistency it needs someone who knows the car.

I think Van Der Garde has probably spent too long in GP2 and FR3.5 to go anywhere now, 6 years spent racing in the Formulas just below F1 just hasn’t got him where he needs to be.

    @bosley OK, fair enough!

I feel the same way, @bosley – I’m just afraid Bruno Senna is going to buy himself another season of mediocrity, this time with Caterham.

I would assume Petrov would bring the same, if not more money to the table and on performance, the seat would go to Petrov too.

That is a scary thought indeed sir… Bruno should just give it up… he just doesn´t have the speed. Going to Caterham would only delay his retirement of F1, 1 more year…

@catracho504 – I’ve heard the following about Caterham’s second seat:

    1) Bruno Senna’s sponsors said no to any deal involving Caterham, Marussia or HRT. They apparently want him in a car that can score points, but none of the points-scoring teams want him.

    2) Giedo van der Garde seems to have realised that this is his last chance to get into Formula 1, and keeps offering more and more money.

    3) Vitaly Petrov’s sponsors, Russian Helicopters, reportedly sent a delegation to Caterham’s headquarters last week.

I really hope that Sutil doesn’t get a seat.

  • Profile picture of Prisoner Monkeys Prisoner Monkeys said 5 months ago:

Is there a particular reason for that sentiment?

    Criminals do not deserve F1!

There’s a difference between attacking someone in a moment of anger like Adrian Sutil, or sustained and deliberate criminal activity, like Bernie Madoff.

Hopefully it plays out like this: Bianchi joins di Resta at Force India, Kovalainen or Petrov remains at Caterham with Charles Pic, and Bruno Senna falls in to the Grand Canyon.
