I’d be very surprised if Boullier lets Grosjean go at Lotus. He effectively is Grosjean’s manager and has kept him on after 2012 and his early-season slump. Then again, Lotus did give Heidfeld the boot because Bruno Banani had more sponsorship..
Still, I don’t see what Massa could offer Lotus as a driver. Sure, he might be interesting for Brazilian sponsors, but I hardly imagine Massa is as popular now as he was in 2008, or would be as a rising star like Felipe Nasr, given a good car.
Ideally, I’d like to see Hulkenberg and Grosjean at Lotus, because despite everything, I still consider Grosjean a talented driver. Having two talented young men might be a gable, but looking at Massa’s performances makes me dizzy sometimes, so that’s hardly a safer bet.
As for the Alonso/McLaren stories? Well, people have to keep their pageviews coming with the second Red Bull seat gone and Kimi going to Ferrari, I guess.
