Sky Sports F1 isn’t Sky’s only channel, £9.99 for 24 hours is not a bad price really.

Indeed, so to watch all of the practice, Quali and Race, It’s going to cost me £30.00 a race x 19 races is £570.00!! might as well go and get the SKYHD pack now and also benefit from receiving those other channels that you speak of all year round!

But why would you pay for the pass for all 20 Races? for a start, 9 of them are on the BBC!

Looking at it anohter way, fi you elect to ONLY watch the race (Not ideal, I know, but its an option) then you’ve got 9 payments of £9.99 remaining – £89.1 for the remainder of the year. If you look at it that way, it isn’t a bad deal.

Yuk! Have you watched the BBC’s coverage? I’d pay the extra to not have to put up with EJ and DC!

But the point is, you have that option. You can’t really go on about the high cost of using this pass for every race weekend when you refuse to use the free alternative.

@Asanator, I picked up all of the weekend’s main coverage (practice, quali, race) from SKY HD via Darmeth, and also obtained the BBC highlights for comparison, and I have to say, this Suzi Perry was horrendous and made the BBC pre-race portion of the highlights simply impossible for me to watch. I was a fan of Jake Humphrey, and have preferred the BBC to SKY for the past few seasons, but I find this Suzi Perry character (about whom I knew nothing until this weekend, not being from Britain) to be simply unwatchable. UGH! UGH!!!

I find it very odd how Sky don’t want to show us the full video of the post race press conferences, even today when it was a key moment, they only showed a v. short clip. I know as a fact that many other broadcasters still show it (even Sky Germany), it’s transmitted as part of the world feed. I know why they normally wouldn’t want to show it, given that the drivers usually say the same sorta stuff in the podium interviews, but even still for key one’s like today, you’d think they would have posted the video on the website, yet they’ve only given us the FIA transcript. I’m pretty sure there must be contractual reasons why they can’t show the full conference in-vision, perhaps they’ve lost that ability in exchange for messing about with the world feed during practice?

GT_racer, maybe you could comment as you know more about these things than we do?

I should point out that this only started as soon as the Podium interviews came in at Silverstone in 2012, before then you’d get shown the 1st part of the press conference. This is how the post-race press conference is structured:
Part 1: Questions from the moderator, in English
Part 2: Statement in the Driver’s own language (if non-English)
Part 3: Questions from the media on the floor.

Now before Silverstone 2012, ITV, the BBC (and Sky) would always show Part 1 of the press conference. Yet not the BBC or Sky in the UK do it now, it’s odd. Maybe it’s a contractual thing for UK broadcasters.

I was pro-BBC last year, and would always watch the BBC version live when I had the chance. However, I’ve watched both races on both broadcasts this year (I haven’t seen the pre or post shows from the BBC yet), and I have to say that I prefer Sky. Their commentary seems far more informed. Crofty and Brundle just seem to much more in-tuned and dynamic than the pairing of Ben Edwards and David Coulthard.

I also think that Ted Kravitz is far better than Gary Anderson, and Natalie Pinkham is a good pitlane reporter as well. I have no idea who this new Ted guy is, but he hasn’t impressed me.

I’m quite lucky to be able to get the Sky feed on someone else’s package through Sky Go, and I think I will continue to watch it on Sky when I can, because even though it doesn’t feel quite as ‘homey’ as the experience that Jake Humphrey gave, with the duo of Coulthard and Jordan beside him. However, I have got used to it on Sky now, and although Simon Lazenby isn’t as good as Jake Humphrey, the race commentary more than makes up for it.

As for Suzi Perry…I’m not entirely sure on her. I haven’t seen much of her, but she hasn’t been that good so far either, and her and Coulthard don’t seem to have a good bond. Not to mention I have no idea where EJ is. It’s not necessarily a bad thing that he’s gone, but I think having a trio definitely is the way to go for presenting.

@john-bergqvist Of the few criticisms I have towards Sky’s F1 coverage, a lack of the post-race conference is one of them. I don’t think they include it anymore because, as you say, it is more-or-less a repeat of what is said on the podium (minus “the fans are great”, “we love this country”, “can’t wait to come next year” blah blah blah). Although, in the case of this week, the more Vettel-Webber moments we get, the better.

Sky devote a whole 40-minute programme to showing the Thursday press conference, and I definitely remember seeing it after qualifying, so I can only assume they don’t consider showing the race one necessary.

@Jonny705 Well it’s odd, cos they kept referring to it so much today, yet they noticably didn’t put the whole thing online or anything like that. It’s strange…
