F1 Fanatic

Here’s my first attempt: it’s a Bangkok street circuit (4.81 km, 63 laps), with 12 corners: 2 high speed straights, 3 chicanes (5, 7 and 8), 3 potential overtaking corners (1, 3 and 9).

The circuit is far from perfect: at locations a and b, the bridges feature elevation change, so we could end up seeing cars take to the sky if the bridges don’t get changed (that’s a bit dangerous I guess..). Do you have a better idea?

I got bored so had a go. Don’t know if this would work, but it has fast bits.

Also, the laps for the first one would be a 53 lap race (5.8192km) And the second would be a 50 lap race (6.1652km)

So far I have:

1) A long, superfast road circuit in the harbour area

2) A short, simple fast street circuit in the centre

No idea where they would have to put pits and grandstands though…

Seems a little too long, but I tried to include as few 90 degree turns as possible with a street circuit. Anti-clockwise btw.

The great F1 high speed night race… That straight is 4.4 km long!
Just for the record: 13.808 km, 22 laps, the race will be over in an hour I guess.

It’s very difficult to make a good circuit, because everything is so cramped. What’s more, this is in a residential area, so it’s going to cut hundreds of people of from the outside world. But Sanamluang Park is one of the few places I can find in the city that could actually support the pit lane.

The only other alternative I have is this, again with the pits in Sanamluang Park:

It should cut off less people – in fact, it might cut off no people – but it’s probably in violation of FIA regulations that actively discourage (if not outright forbid) circuits from using two sides of a dual carriageway as a circuit.
