    Yes it was Malaysia where he had a clutch problem, and the only way he could change down was to select the gear he wanted whilst braking and then go back on the throttle the engage it. It was a remarkable performance.

    Come On Guys,

    Surely the best Drive of 2010 was Lewis in Belgium without even thinking about it!
    Outstanding Performance.

    And Juan Lewis had the same problem in Japan as well….

    Do you lots here have a grudge against Lewis or something?

    Alonso in Singapore was damn great but here’s some contenders.

    Hamilton in Australia,
    His team kinda ruined it for him but he was so immense, overtaking practicaly at will, made Webber, Massa and to a lesser extent Alonso look completley ordinary. Watching replays of this race an the moves he pulls off are quite crazy. He went of a total rampage and no one could get near him on that day.

    Rosberg in China.
    1 Mistake, for the whole race, had got the best of Button, had got the best of Hamilton. Who needed to out pit him. This was the unsung drive of the season if you ask me. He made the same call as Button made on tyres but got none of the praise, held on fantastically in a slower car, an then made up for Hamiltons treatment of him in Australia by keeping him behind in very difficult circumstances.

    I JUST HAVE TO SAY IT AGAIN.
    Did ja’all watch Singapore, there was this guy out front, doing magic. The differance that day was Nando, this was Vettle’s race to win and loose but Alonso made sure it was him winning and Vettle loosing at everypoint when it counted, quali, the race, pit stops and when his tyres went off at the end. An not even in the fastest car, quite superb.

    Come on John Green, this is a forum with so many people. Surely you can understand that many people will have perceptions and opinions vastly different from yours.

    Kobayashi’s drives in Europe and Japan were the most exciting drives in my opinion. Other great drives for me include:
    Hamilton in China
    Hamilton in Canada
    Button in Italy
    Alonso in Singapore
    Vettel in Abu Dhabi

    The more i think about it, the more i like Buttons Drive in Australia.
    Gambled on the dry tyres, nearly binned it.. went on to win

    Yeah but in Australia, he had to come in because he’d destroyed his tyres. He was just lucky in that that happened to coincided with the optimum time to pit. He did exactly the same thing in Korea and was unlucky on that occasion because it wasn’t the best time. China was a much better performance in my opinion, even if he was a bit of a menace when he became the safety car.

    There were a lot of great drives this year, but I think I’m going to have to vote for Hamilton in China. Although that might just be the most enjoyable drive; the sheer amount of overtaking and then ending up right behind Button.

    @JohnGreen

    The fact that Hamilton put it in the gravel and only got out through pure luck counts against his performance in Spa.

  • Profile picture of JohnGreen JohnGreen said 2 years, 4 months ago:

    @ed24f1

    No it doesn`t youre clearly missing the point here.

    When you go into the gravel you have to put the right amount of throttle in and wait for the car to be responsive and also get the turning and steering right as in the gravel you will naturally have a lot of understeer which you`ve got to try and minimise.

    Anyway we all know that:

    1)Hamilton is a better driver and character than JB
    2)He will be 2011 World Drivers Champion

    @JohnGreen – He corrected the error well, but he made the error, didn’t he? You are right, it was still a very good performance, but you can’t be sure it was the best of the season. And Hamilton’s problem in Suzuka was entirely different from Alonso’s problem in Sepang – it’s way easier to drive without first two (or three, not sure) gears, than to drive with the problem Alonso had, as described in a previous post by Dan Thorn.

    A bit biased, are we?

    Just for coping – I;d have to put forward Vettel at Spa when he did one stint from the start to second last lap, or Alonso in Monaco when he went from the second lap to the end!

    @Enigma

    No I am not bias I just say the truths of how it is and how I see it is that Lewis is one of the best of all time.

    Also are you trying to tell me that no one else has made errors on the track in 2010?

    And you state

    “And Hamilton’s problem in Suzuka was entirely different from Alonso’s problem in Sepang – it’s way easier to drive without first two (or three, not sure) gears, than to drive with the problem Alonso had, as described in a previous post by Dan Thorn.”

    Think about it would you rather have these gears:

    3-7
    OR
    4-7

    3-7 you should say remember Mclaren told him on the radio do not use any gears lower than 4th.

    Alonso could use 3rd and Hamilton couldn`t.

    @ Calum- Vettel at Spa? When this happened?

    You mean Vettel at Monza ;)

  • Profile picture of Enigma Enigma said 2 years, 4 months ago:

    @JohnGreen I agree on Lewis – in my opinion he was the best driver of the season as well. But it seems that he’s just over-rated in your eyes.

    And, read the post by Dan Thorn. Hamilton could use the 4 gears, while Alonso had to shift in a completely different way, which must have been incredibly hard to adapt to. Hamilton also had a big problem, as it’s surely not easy to drive without first three gears, but it seems easier to me.

    I think we`ll agree to disagree
