I have some ideas for the French Grand Prix:
The most sensible option. By cutting out the chicane before the third hairpin, you get a short lap with two great overtaking opportunities, one after a fast corner and one after a slow one, which should be very interesting. The final chicane is also bypassed because it’s just silly.

My least favourite option. I always hated this track, apart from the Mistral straight and Signes, it has nothing what-so-ever, it was a Tilkedome avant la lettre. I have smoothed-out the Saint Beaume part and turned the last corner into a fast kink. It would also be spectacular if they would use the hairpin after Signes. Not only is it the least interesting track, it’s also located in the Mediterranean, where there’s already Monaco, Monza and Barcelona.
A pretty cool track with lots of undulation. The problem is that it’s too short, so I added a bit. Right before the new corner there is a huge drop, similar to Rivazza and on the exit they have to climb all the way back up. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s possible to make these adjustments in time for 2013.
My favourite option! The old circuit is a no-go for a number of reasons and the new one is too short and the pits are inadequate, so I designed a hybrid solution: a semi-permanent track. The new pits can be built on the part of the circuit that is no longer necessary. The open road part can be closed off at will, because, if you look at the map, it has no use. This track would need a lot of work in a short period of time, but I think it can be done. Paul Ricard would also need new grandstands and the necessary run-offs can’t take that long to construct.
Finally, another great option, almost on par with Charade. This would make a great addition to the calendar, because it would be the only open road circuit and it would make a second low-downforce track. The old pits and grandstands could be restored in their original Art Deco style. Unfortunately, since some expropriation would be necessary to build run-off in turns 5 and 6, I don’t think it can be done by 2013.
I’m afraid Rouen-les-Essarts can’t be made safe enough. Samson is a deathtrap.
