F1 Fanatic

I’ve recently noticed a lot of Threads have started about Helmet designs, especially as so many drivers change theirs from race-to-race now.

As a long time member of F1F, I know a lot of people on here have a big interest in helmet designs so I thought I’d start this thread.

In this thread we can discuss new helmet designs as well as our favourites/least favourites designs from F1 history.

René Arnoux has my vote with Niki Lauda (1974 take) a close second.
Otherwise Peter Revson’s (Teo Fabi had a similar pattern later on). Today’s helmets look like the consequences of a bad hangover on a Sunday morning. As for helmet shape, Elio de Angelis “Star Wars” Simpson helmet cannot be beaten but I also like the Lauda AGV from 1976.

Also love all of Alonso’s, Felipe’s and Hamilton’s. JB’s was great pre-Valencia (ignoring the horror of last year’s esp push the Button). I like Petrov’s. Alber’s was decent. Piquet snr’s was glorious. I like any white helmets esp Elio’s and I think the Stig tried to copy it :P

I see. Those threads you’re referring to I think they’re mine. Those of Liuzzi’s Monza helmet, Alguersuari’s Monza helmet and Senna’s Spa helmet. I won’t include these but from now on expect a great contribution from me to this thread.

I have noticed you posted a lot of threads and it’s not a problem. Just here you can share your love of helmet designs with me and Steph :D

Absolutely agree with you about Fernando’s. At the start of the season I wasn’t actually sure but you and a few others commented that it looked really cool and you were right!

Good thread, I like drivers helmets designs especially if its something different and stands out from the car :)

I can’t seem to find any pix of Peter Revson’s helmet. They are a few videos on You Tube but nothing “static”. Would anybody have it ?
