Late last year, V8 Supercar driver Jason Richards was diagnosed with cancer. He is now undergoing treatment. As one of the most likeable members of the V8 Supercar paddock, all the drivers, teams and sponsors of the category have come together to create the site http://www.bid4jase.com where items will be auctioned off to help raise money for him and his family. Items range from signed helmets and race suits, through to washing machines, a hot lap in the 2 Seater Minardi F1 car, and a brand new Holden Cruze.

Here’s where the F1 part comes in..

At the Australian GP, Jason made a special appearance racing in the V8 Supercar support race, finishing second in the race on the Saturday Night after a thrilling battle for 1st. Mark Webber, a good friend of Jason, was impressed with his performance, and when he heard of the auction site, decided that he, and the F1 paddock would help.

Mark, along with Red Bull, have donated a rear suspension wishbone from their car which has been signed by all the drivers on the F1 Grid this season.

You can find this piece here: https://secure.auctiondesq.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=item&AuctionID=24801&OrgID=8108

The current bid is over $10,000 (AUD), well out of what I can afford and I presume out of reach of what the majority of people here can afford, however if you can afford to bid, not only will you be buying a priceless piece of F1 memorabilia, you will be helping Jason to fight his illness.
