We now have 28 votes! Please keep voting, but I’ll post the current scores so we can provide a like-for-like comparison with last year’s vote (which ended with 28 votes in total).

    1. M Schumacher – 673 (25 1st’s) (+/-0 places, +62 points, +5 1st’s)
    2. Alonso – 504 (3 1st’s) (+/-0 places, -15 points, -3 1st’s)
    3. Vettel – 389 (+2 places, +192 points)
    4. Raikkonen – 331 (+/-0 places, +21 points)
    5. Hamilton – 294 (-2 places, -78 points, -2 1st’s)
    6. Button – 211 (+2 places, +100 points)
    7. Hakkinen – 92 (+/-0 places, -68 points)
    8. Montoya – 85 (-2 places, -77 points)
    9. Massa – 81 (+/-0 places, -12 points)
    10. Kubica – 46 (+/-0 places, -34 points)
    11. Barrichello – 39 (+/-0 places, -24 points)
    12. Coulthard – 30 (+1 place, +4 points)
    13. Webber – 26 (-1 place, -27 points)
    14. R Schumacher – 11 (+6 places, +10 points)
    15. Rosberg – 9 (-1 place, -9 points)
    16. Heidfeld – 6 (-1 place, -2 points)
    17. Fisichella – 1 (-1 place, -2 points)

Michael Schumacher still rules the roost – if anything, in more dominant fashion than last year. While this year’s performances might have helped, I’d put this down to the disappointing seasons Alonso and Hamilton had this year.

Ralf gained the most places (6), but Vettel, Button, and Coulthard gained places too. Vettel, in particular, gained 192 points! Raikkonen did not gain any places, but gained more points (21) compared to last year.

Hamilton lost the most points compared to last year (78), edging out Montoya’s losses. Other drivers lost at least one place in this year’s ranking (Webber, Rosberg, Heidfeld, Fisichella), while others had less points without losing a place (Alonso, Hakkinen, Massa, Kubica, Barrichello).

Of the 20 drivers who got votes last year, 3 have remained voteless so far this year – Trulli, Villeneuve, and Kobayashi.

Very interesting results so far, indeed. So keep voting! :)

I’d love if you could make it bigger or at least bigger fonts because it is a bit hard to read, at least for me, as it is now. Very nice chart though! @vettels

    @Mustalainen
I’ve made the text slightly bigger (you’ll probably have to refresh).

    @Journeyer

Well maybe because he felt on their day they were the best, however I think that they weren’t on their day as often as Schumi and Nando are. Montoya was absurdly fast

    Thanks, LexBlair!

Surprisingly, while Glock and Villeneuve have received at least 1 vote, 2 GP winners this century have yet to be mentioned – Trulli and Kovalainen. No love for the latter two, then?

  • Profile picture of Estesark Estesark said 1 year, 5 months ago:

As much as I like Kovalainen, I don’t think he’d get into my top 20 of the 21st century, let alone the top ten. He’s doing really well at Lotus/Caterham, but that doesn’t prove much. He had a chance at a top team and didn’t (or couldn’t) take it.

  • Profile picture of Journeyer Journeyer said 1 year, 5 months ago:

I think of Kovalainen as the new Fisichella. Brilliant in a midfield team, but unable to take the reins in a frontrunner. I sense that he would do very well if his midfield team became a frontrunner, but like Fisichella, he doesn’t have the ability to unseat an established lead driver.

    1. Michael Schumacher (No Doubt)
    2. Fernando Alonso
    3. Sebastian Vettel
    4. Lewis Hamilton
    5. Kimi Raikkonnen
    6. Robert Kubica
    7. Jenson Button
    8. Felipe Massa
    9. Juan Pablo Montoya
    10. Mark Webber

The first half is really easy, than it gets a bit harder. I haven’t seen too much of the early noughties so my votes are probably a bit influenced by that
