Hang on, that can’t be right, I’ve got Alonso & the two McLarens too far back… and there’s no room for Massa.

Tough call- its 37 degrees in Melbourne next Wednesday, if its rolls into the weekend could be interesting- weren’t Lotus fast in the heat last year???

    1. Kimi (1st pole since the comeback- he knows what he’s doing!)
    2. Hamilton (FAST and could be a real good car).
    3. Webber (Aussie- and he’s due)
    4. Grosjean (hot weather & fast)
    5. Vettel
    6. Alonso
    7. Rosberg
    8. Maldonardo
    9. Massa
    10. Ricciardo (home GP advantage :)

Cant wait F1F Fans! I am watching the 2012 Melbourne GP now (2nd time this week LOL). I dont think we will see a front runner for a while and hope to see a championship as good as last year!!!!!!!!!

    Qualifying
    1. Lewis Hamilton – I don’t think the Merc is the fastest car, but IMO it’s a car that could very well suit the one-off demands of Albert Park.
    2. Sebastian Vettel
    3. Nico Rosberg
    4. Romain Grosjean
    5. Jenson Button
    6. Kimi Raikkonen
    7. Mark Webber
    8. Fernando Alonso
    9. Nico Hulkenberg
    10. Felipe Massa

I’m predicting Checo to struggle in his first ever qualifying session with a top car – my guess is around mid-Q2, ie 13th/14th.

    Race:
    1. Sebastian Vettel – who takes the lead through the pits as it turns out the Mercedes has to do a stop more than Vettel.
    2. Jenson Button – plays a smart, canny race with tyre preservation and shines in a front-limited circuit.
    3. Fernando Alonso
    4. Kimi Raikkonen – hounding Alonso for the podium though
    5. Lewis Hamilton
    6. Nico Hulkenberg
    7. Mark Webber – having cold feet at Albert Park as always
    8. Romain Grosjean
    9. Felipe Massa
    10. Nico Rosberg

Unfortunately I think Checo will struggle in the race too – trying to repeat a one-stop and it turns out that he’s not such a great tyre manager without a tyre-friendly Sauber…

I highly doubt that will happen. He’s already proven to be a much better tyre saver than Kobayashi, and unless Koba was utterly rubbish in this department; it proves that Perez is a genuinely conservative driver.

@Kingshark You have your opinion – I’ll have mine. An opinion shared by none other than Jenson Button – as a matter of fact. His current teammate.

I don’t remember which magazine (or website) it was – but he said a while back, (in no uncertain terms) “Watching the onboards of Checo’s car… if I drove my McLaren the way he drove his Sauber… my tyres would be finished.”

Interesting. People seem to disregard Webber and assume Vettel will be #1 for Redbull. Im not so sure about that.. Same for Alonso and Massa.

Maybe because Webber has never finished higher than 4th at his home race. He’s clearly not too suited there.

@raymondu999 That just sounds like Jenson talking himself up. The myth that Jenson is the tyre whisperer is the only thing he has going for him
