Monaco’s marshals have a reputation as the best in the business which will make this an especially mortifying blunder.

During last weekend’s historic Monaco Grand Prix a McLaren M23 slipped from a crane which was being used to recover it and dropped several metres onto the ground.

As if that wasn’t bad enough the field was released from behind the Safety Car at the time and the race was hurriedly red-flagged as they climbed Beau Rivage towards the wrecked car at Massenet. Another driver crashed his car as the field got on the brakes again

I always have my heart in my mouth when I see them hoisting cars 10-20 metres above spectators heads in fear of that happening, it was only a matter of time if I’m honest. Another three seconds and it would have landed on all those marshals.

I agree completely @strontium. It always worries me when we have on-boards of the cars in the air. I’m surprised this has not happened before.
