Of course he has a point, but to come out and say the season has been a borefest is daft. It reminded me of sensationalist tabloid headlines designed to grab peoples attention. Like Eddie Irvine, I suspect he likes coming out with these soundbites occasionally to keep his name in the news.

I do have a problem with DRS though. As people have said above, it’s been great for creating overtaking at circuits where it would usually be all but impossible, like Monaco and Barcelona. But like most people I hated seeing cars breeze past each other at Istanbul and Montreal. A balance needs to be found, I think

But let’s not go OTT. Of the 8 races this season, I’d argue that two have been classics (Canada and China), five others have been pretty exciting, and only Valencia has been a complete dud. That certainly doesn’t constitute a borefest in my mind

Jacques, for me fits into the bracket of the “knee-jerk” reaction clan. Yes we need to constantly ask questions about the sport, but everything that has come out of his mouth is quite sensationlist and really negative.

I normally enjoy his page in F1 Racing, but I didn’t enjoy what he had to say in this video.

I am unsure about refuelling, I was always a big fan and wasn’t happy when it was banned, however do we not get the same ultimate difference in strategies the way the tyres are being used this season, One driver making an extra pitstop than the other and having to pump in the hotlaps to make the time up? Surely this is the same argument that people give in favour of refuelling.

Secondly, Brundle and Coulthard mentioned in the commentary last race that the reason so many incidents are being investigated is that the drivers asked the stewards to investigate EVERY on track incident.

To say the season is a bore is just a nonsense anyway, we all know that the races have been far from it and this idiot just gives one controversial soundbite after another because someone once described him as outspoken. His opinions are nonsense and largely irrelevant as regular readers of F1 racing will know.

I dont know. Maybe he just wants to make himself seen as a true racer compared to the current line-up. I think this year has been entertaining besides Valencia but I think it has nothing to do with the rules.

I must say, I do not agree with JV completely, and I guess he says it just as much to be a bit controversial as for the core of truth in it, but he really has a point that F1 should look at.
The fact they are still experimenting with the DRS zones show how much simulation is still missing. It would have been a lot better if they had figured it out already. And I still think its not good to have this solution to cars not being able to follow each other close. DRS was just about fine in Melbourne, Spain and Monaco, i.e. hardly noticable but leaving enough room for exiting racing.

even so, I still find the DRS rules of this year against the principles of racing: not letting one of the drivers to use the same gizmo is creating artificial unevenness. Despite the hot air messing with aerodynamics. just think this way: the aerodynamicist genius who eventually comes up with a solution (allowing his car to keep his performance behind another car, or at least, not loose as much as the other) should, has the right to the advantage. With DRS, why bother? All the cars can artificially do that, you lose the advantage!
Really really strange rule. I expect the FIA to gain senses and change this by the end of the season

I think that’s pretty much an impossibility. In this day of frozen engines, speed means aero and there’s no way to design an aero package that’s insensitive to the wake and makes your car faster than the others’.
