@magon4 – And none of that means anything if he isn’t allowed to compete with Vettel.

Well if I understand Red Bull’s strategy correctly, they would be VERY interested in seeing Hamilton competing with Vettel. That’s what they want to stand for. Competing and winning.

Christian Horner said last year that having two world class drivers in the same team just doesn’t work, and he isn’t entirely wrong, two world class drivers means two big egos fighting to be number one in the same team. Maybe he just said that to keep Webber happy, though he did inadvertently insult him at the same time.

I don’t think Hamilton will leave McLaren based on his results so far this season. Generally speaking they could be better, but they’re not bad either. As long as he avoids a repeat of 2011 he should be okay.

But would they really take the chance on Hamilton beating Vettel? They want Vettel to win because Vettel is a Red Bull driver, and has been for years. They made his career. They don’t want him (or themselves) to look stupid by having Hamilton come in and challenge the upstanding order.

I actually think they would enjoy mixing it up. From a Red Bull point of view. Maybe not from a F1 team point a view.

I doubt it. They’ve demonstrated time and time again that they like their drivers winning. The last thing they want is someone from outside the Red Bull driver program stepping into the car and overthrowing the established order.

Not if their #1 driver told the pitwall to “be wise” whenever Hamilton threatened his position on track. Silverstone 2011 anyone?
