When drivers are idiots (20 posts)

    @TheWittyWeasel I agree!
    I think it was a very intelligent and brave decision. Hiding an injury might be seen as hard, brave and manly while quite frankly it is just stupid! Yes it is manly to do so, in the sense that it is pretty common for men to do so, to ACT as they were made of titanium, but the brave one in my opinion is the one who knows the limits of his body and respects when it tries to tell you that enough is enough.
    I also think it was a respectful decision to the team. If he knows he can’t do 100% and do it safely then it is better to let another one do the job to get the maximum points home that weekend, instead of just going by his own ego.

    Was it Piquet who had his feet burned once as the oil radiator (placed at the front of the car, close to where pedals where) had some sort of problem? I think that is pictured in the Senna movie by the way?
    Even though I’m not sure that can be classified as idiot. It’s just that the guy was winning the race I think (or on way to podium) and did not give up.

    @Steph I wouldn’t say that Alonso pitting to cover Webber was that bad. Yes, it lost him the championship, but at the time it seemed right.

    I’m not sure it did seem right even at the time. I was on the live blog that race and I remember quite a few users weren’t convinced it would work out. I think it was clear that Ferrari panicked.
