I’ll also add Toulo de Graffenried to the list!
PM – if we’re moving on to the worst names then I’m going to have to nominate 1930s legend Dick Seaman!
Other than that it’s a little amusing, I think d’Ambrosia is an awful name for a driver. To be named after rice pudding…
I agree with everybody who said Raikkonen, Lafitte, Arnoux and von Tripps, even more so now I know his full name.
I love the sound of Jerome’s full name. It just rolls off the tongue. I don’t even associate it with pudding any more.
Haha. The trouble is his name doesn’t come up very often, so when it does it just makes me hungry.
Ricardo Londono-Bridge
Technically Jerome is named after the food of the gods! Or maybe custard is the food of the gods…actually reading Homer I always pictured ambrosia as a creamy substance!
Il add my voice to
Piers Courage Gilles Villeneuve Ronnie Peterson (it just sounds fast) Stirling Moss Alberto Ascari Vittorio “The Monza Gorilla” Brambilla Emerson Fittipaldi Masten Gregory Jacky Ickx Clay Regazzoni Desmond Titterington
I always had a soft spot for Jacques Laffite, especially with Murray Walker purring it out.
I like the names of many of the current IndyCar drivers. Will Power, Scott Dixon and Ryan Hunter-Reay, just to name some.
EDIT: Forgot about Alex Tagliani.
I loved hearing Murray Walker saying “And E-li-oh de An-ge-lis goes storming through” in his characteristic sing-song voice.
JENSON BUTTON….
Straight out of a comic book!
Jean-Pierre Jabouille
How has nobody mentioned Zsolt Baumgartner?
