Yes.. the most ‘racey’ name.
In my opinion it has to be Giancarlo Fisichella or Jos Verstappen.
Another vote for Giancarlo Fisichella.
I was also a fan of Scott Speed as well as Ricardo Patrese.
I think Stirling Moss and Jenson Button are great British racing names.
Fisi is good too (in terms of name, not so much in the sense of driving ability).
I’m sure someone will remember, someone did a thread along similar lines to this before and there was some British driver from the Fifties with an extravagant double-barreled name like Chuffington-Brown or something, can anyone remember? Or did I dream it?
Elio de Angelis
It’s a pity Will Power never made it to F1 though.
Jonny – your comment reminded me of the 2006 British GP edition of the F1 Rejects podcasts, talking about the top 10 posh British driver names: http://www.f1rejects.com/podcasts/index.html
10th – Rodney Nuckey
9th – Horace Gould
8th – Stuart Lewis-Evans
7th – Archie Scott Brown
6th – John Campbell-Jones
5th – Brian Shawe-Taylor
4th – John Riseley-Prichard
3rd – Philip Fotheringham-Parker
2nd – Desmond Titterington
1st – Robin Montgomerie-Charrington
If those aren’t great racing names I don’t know what are :D
As Zadak onces said…
Zonta is a really cool racing name.
Heinz-Harald Frentzen is about as awesome as a driving name gets, it just sounds like he’s going to be really fast.
I have just one word for you…Geki
Some other interesting ones:
Basil van Rooyan
Jose Carlos Pace
Juan Manuel Fangio
Giancarlo Fisichella is a great one. So many Italian racers names sound fast…
As Zadak once said…
Anything with Juan as a first name.
It sounds like one, so cool for racing
Juan Pablo Montoya
Roberto Pupo Moreno
Andrea de Cesaris
Zadak… may I ask why you have begun speaking so strangely lately?
Tom L- Great tip! That was one of F1 Rejects’ best top tens in my opinion
I nominate Wolfgang Alexander Albert Eduard Maximilian Reichsgraf Berghe von Trips (you can call him Wolfy T)
