I think DC is doing a cracking job – and while Brundle’s gridwalks and commentary is legendary, I actually prefer DC’s podium interviews to his.
I’d also like to see Muzza do it at Silverstone, and perhaps Rowan Atkinson at some point :P
I think Yuji Ide would make a great one too.
Eddie Jordan, Alain Prost & Nigel Mansell would all be great.
Schumi, Herbert , Heidfeld and, most of all, Irvine
IMO, Coulthard and Brundle have shown that former drivers who have worked for media can do the interviews much better than others.
In Finland we have nowadays Mika Salo in our crew, so he could be good chance to do it at some race. However in Bahrain he’s working in the stewards’ panel.
Ricky Gervais. Definitely.
Alan Jones! Johnny Herbert as well. Derek Daly would be pretty good too.
While I like the idea of Gervais, I think his humour would be lost on the majority of F1’s audience due to losing things in translation and cultural differences in humour. If the FIA cracked down on Kimi and Seb for swearing, imagine the controversy after Gervais.. :p
Irvine and Atkinson are good mentions, I’d like to see more old drivers like Hakkinen, Barrichello, Capelli, Berger, drivers from other series like Kristensen, Loeb, Rossi. Celebs only work if they know something about F1, imo.
I have to say, the podium interviews have really grown on me.
I still find them a little uncomfortable at the minute…
I agree with Clarkson & Atkinson. I wouldn’t mind Chris Evans doing it, and I certainly think Keith would be great too!
Taki Inoue. He would bring a new level of humor to the podium interviews.
Gavin Free from Rooster teeth, the questions would be hilarious.
