He will go if he does not deliver convincing, consistent ( 3? ) top ten points by Barcelona.
Really hope Perez shows maturity on and off drives-and that makes a Ferrari claim on top 5 results or tough rain drives, and not on “Massa sucks, so fill in”.
Barrichello or Kub, Fisc to fill in for half a season keeps options open and is explainable, what with the car and all.

Barrichello is committed to Indycar. He won’t race in Formula 1.

Well they’re giving him a new chassis:

Massa to get new chassis for Malaysian Grand Prix

    And sticking up for him:

Felipe has certainly been the target of criticism after the race in Albert Park. But the Brazilian driver is used to this situation and remembers well 2008 when after two races – Australia and Malaysia – he had a zero in the points column and many of the media were calling for him to be fired on the spot. Many of those commentators had to change their minds given that only a few exceptional circumstances – from the piston in Budapest to the pit stop in Singapore to cite the most striking examples – denied him the world championship.

That could be read both ways. Sure, a new chassis should help him – but it if doesn’t … well, the car might not be the problem afterall.

Anyway, here’s the ridiculous story of the day: Autosprint tips Jarno Trulli as a replacement for Massa.

@prisoner-monkeys – Oh no no no. We already had enough Massa train jokes last weekend, the last thing we need is the return of the Trulli train…and I even like Jarno. A lot.

I don’t believe for a second that Ferrari have even talked to Jarno Trulli. It would be weird though if they haven’t had a friendly convo with at least couple of drivers by now, just to find out what they’re doing, say, april to november…

I’d imagine Alguersuari, even though they might consider him second helpings. He might me the most capable young guy out there.
Other free agents would be Heidfeld (unlikely), Sutil (they won’t like the court business), Kubica (doubt it).
But it wouldn’t be unlike Ferrari to poach somebody from a smaller team, though I think that if it comes to that they’ll sooner just call Perez up for duty.

Ferrari have gone for a radical change this year and lets be honest it hasnt worked. Both drivers are having a tough time getting to grips with the car. I feel its unrealistic to jump on Massa because he was slow during the first race and practising.

Why not wait and see, as a Ferrari fan myself its is dissapointing to see them in such bad shape but I am sure something will be done about the problems and things will get better.

As for Massa, I think it would be a big mistake to change to another driver mid season. Wait until the end of the year to see how it all turns out.

I’m sure many people have waited long enough. I know I certainly have. You also need to take under consideration that Luca di Montezemolo is not the most patient of people on the planet, so I don’t think he is willing to wait for yet another season either.

I honestly still think Domenicali will lose his job earlier than Massa.

  • Profile picture of john john said 1 year, 2 months ago:

@dpod You are quite right Di Montezemolo is not very patient, so why have they not fired Massa? Renault sure didnt wait to fire quick Nick did they!

Theres something going on here darned if I know, what do you think?

Just for the record I like Massa I dont want him out of F1 or Ferrari.

For what it’s worth, I’m sure Nick taking the team to court over his contract has something to do with him being fired. Before then, I seem to recall them saying Bruno was only going to be in there temporarily.

ANYWAY, off topic, sorry. I honestly don’t see Ferrari letting go of Massa before the season is out, but I do agree with the likelyhood of Alguesuari. I’m pretty sure he no longer has connections with Red Bull, he’s got experience with recent cars and has no other commitments other than twiddling his thumbs and talking into BBC5 microphones. But that’s not taking into account what other drivers could be up on the market by the end of the season. I think we’re very much jumping the gun trying to figure this out after only one race. As we saw last season, a lot can change before November. Cars will be developed, drivers will falter and others will shine.

Massa .4 secs behind Alonso and Alonso had keys issues. Looks like the new chassi didn’t help his cause. But I think we all saw that coming.

    I meant kers issues!
