I’m guessing this is going to be their F1 2014 video game livery too.
So Singha is still on the Red Bull and Royal Challenge and Kingfisher premium are still on the Force India. Why make Williams repaint their car if the rule isn’t applied consistently?
Just FYI, in the pre-race build up the Arabic language Bein Sports ran an insert on the return of the Martini livery to motorsport. Oh, the irony.
‘RACING’ – it lived up to that billing today. ;)
It’ll say TESTING tomorrow.
I wonder if that Rothmans Ltd. livery had something to do with Canada having a separate Rothmans company. As you can see from the Ferrari, tobacco ads weren’t banned (before early 00s).
I think it was a clever dodge by the tobacco companies. It has to do with the fact that they aren’t directly advertising cigarettes but the company which did various things, one of which happened to be making cigarettes. A tenuous argument I admit but it seemed to work, in Canada at least. I think this is also why Villeneuve’s CART car had “Player’s Ltd” on it, Players Ltd being the company which made JPS I believe.
Dunhill did it in golf for years too. In with the Duhill Cup becoming the “Alfred Dunhill Cup”. change the division, still advertise cigarettes.
