Wire grids in testing

    What are the wire grids fitted to the cars during the testing sessions for?

    They’re air pressure sensors, for mapping the airflow coming off the tyres usually.

    Or they can be used to check the data from the wind tunnel. I.e the air flow/ shape of the vortices coming off the various arodynamic surfaces is as close as possible to computer predictions
