F1 Fanatic - F1
Drivers I think might make it into F1 in the next three years:
Antonio Felix da Costa (Toro Rosso) ’14
James Calado (Force India) ’14 – perhaps a ‘Hulk year’ before 2015.
Alexander Rossi (Caterham) ’14 – still FP1s unless a pay driver gets kicked out, unlikely without 10th in WCC.
Carlos Sainz Jr (Toro Rosso) ’15
Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) ’16
Raffaele Marciello (Ferrari) ’16 – placed at Marussia/Sauber/Ferrari satellite
Sergey Sirotkin (recent addition – Sauber) ’15 – no superlicence for 2014 (yet).
Felipe Nasr (OGX, Brasil) – surely a team will take up his backing in 2014. Sauber?!?!?! He could be a ‘new Massa’.
Daniel Juncadella (Mercedes) – along with Wickens, Vietoris in DTM. Looks like Williams testing, after Wolff.
Conor Daly (Force India) – still maturing, ’15 FP1s
Tio Ellinas (Marussia) – lack of money, still backed by Manor when possible, ’15 FP1s
Robin Frijns (Sauber) – lack of money, else a shoe in
Mitch Evans (MW Arden) – lack of money, else a shoe in – Can Webber’s backing get a connection to the grid?
Some of these could just be FP1s only in the end. Drivers who I think deserve a shot:
Wickens, Calado; Felix da Costa, Nasr; Frijns, Vandoorne; Evans, Marciello; Korjus, Ellinas; Daly, Sainz Jr, Kvyat; Coletti, Leimer, Magnussen.. I would give Stanaway another shot in mid-Formula cars too.
Drivers I think may have got a shot in the past:
Wickens, Razia (this year), Valsecchi (likely in a Minardi!), Mortara (same!), Filippi (again!), Vietoris, Ericsson, Bird, Alguersuari, Costa..
I have high hopes for these drivers:
Still, I think only one of them (Nasr) will get into F1 next year, but hopefully they will all get a shot eventually.
Pascal Wehrlein(2nd in F3 Euro last year, in DTM this year replacing brother Schumacher)
Marvin Kirchhofer (ADAC Formel Masters champ 2012, German F3 leader this year by a country mile)
Anthoine Hubert (too early to say, I admit, but he’s flattening the field in French F4 at the moment)
Lucas Auer (Gerhard Berger’s nephew, currently 4th in FIA F3)
Max Verstappen and Dorian Boccolacci (of the Lotus Junior Team), the karting stars of 2013 (again, early days)
Antonio Fuoco (Ferrari Driver Academy, currently beating several more experienced drivers in Formula Renault 2.0 Alps)
