Surely Sazuka needs no alterations?! One of the driver’s (and I always thought the fan’s) favorites…

I don’t like this one. I tried several ideas, each using as much of the existing circuit as possible, but none worked. The problem is that the circuit doesn’t take up a whole lot of land, and so I was forced to make it a figure of eight (the original plan was to double back around behind the paddock instead of having a flyover). It just looks messy.

Maybe if the track incorporated bits of the oval, then it could be alright

It’s a little long, but I did come up with this: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4431108

    And this shorter one: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4431123

That oval incorporation wouldn’t work, as that is the banked part of the circuit, and they don’t meet any where. They cross over, but the oval is much higher then the road course, and any transition their wouldn’t work.

So? Just tear up parts of the circuit and rebuild them to fit together.

I’d do three things only to Suzuka:

1: Make the home straight slightly longer with a sharper first corner, make the starts a bit more exciting and make it a little better for overtaking
2: Tighten 130R so it’s as hard as it used to be
3: Introducing a severe elevation change into the final chicane, rather like the new Bus Stop but less pants. OR, speaking of Bus Stop, how about make the whole thing like the old Bus Stop double-chicane, but a mirror version.

Oh, and give Degner 2 some run-off as cars keep getting stranded there after hitting the wall.

    @PM I hope your kidding.

No, I’m not. I’m working on the assumption that the circuit need improving and I have been given carte blanche to do so.

In case you’ve ever wondered what it would look like if it weren’t a figure-eight, here’s a modified Suzuka:

    Hockenheim: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4432315

First part of the lap is basically the same but I replaced the stupid new “pre-stadium” bit with something a little more in the spirit of the pld Hockenheim (fast speeds, sharp braking). Alternatively the haprin could double-back straight into the new corner instead of having the kinked straight.

    You’ve just ruined 130R (if it hasn’t been already…)

Personally at Suzuka the only things I’d do are un-re-profile (if that makes sense!) 130R so that it is as it was pre-2003 and bypass the Casio chicane (although this isn’t possible as then the final corner would be ridiculously fast with no run-off).

Anyone seen this render of “The Circuit of the Americas” in Texas, USA?

    http://www.statesman.com/multimedia/dynamic/00825/COTA-1_825382c.jpg

Looks good, but before it is even built I would get rid of that hairpin, twisty section that is only there to make a good grandstand spectator zone rather than enhance the circuit. Get rid of it with a fast left hander. As shown in the red circle below:
