I thought I might just bring this one back up to the fore…

A lot of people thought that this season may be a damp squib, but nothing could be further from the truth! We have had easily (in my opinion) the most exciting season of Formula One in the last twelve, if not twenty years with (so far) eight different winners of Grands Prix and some amazing race action.

Has 2012 lived up to your expectations?

    1. The United States Grand Prix goes ahead and is a success

I think we can tick that one off.

    2. UK viewing audiences aren’t hurt too badly by the expensive and complicated new broadcasting arrangement

Good job I set my expectations low because they’ve been pretty poor.

    3. Closely-matched teams…

Definitely. This has been a big part of what’s made this a good season.

    …exciting races…

For the most part, though there was a couple of stinkers and too much DRS at others.

    …and a down-to-the-wire championship

And yes. I’m calling that a win

    1. Extremely compitive season with 8 different drivers from 5 teams winning races.

Yes! In fact, 6 different teams won!

    2. Alonso and Ferrari win both championships.

For Ferrari it is no longer possible I’m afraid. Alonso can and may still do it.

    3. Vettel’s engine blows up in the penultimate race costing him the championship (Japan 2006 style)

    Nope, but there’s always Interlagos.

    4. Raikkonen, Schumacher, Rosberg and Massa win a race.

Raikkonen and Rosberg yes. Schumacher and Massa no. I’m calling this a 50/50.

    5. Grosjean, Kobayashi, Perez, di Resta and Hulkenburg get their first podium.

True for the first three but not the latter 2 Force India drivers.

    6. Mclaren and Hamilton stuggle badly, who has another poor season. At the end of the year Hamilton is fired by Mclaren because of attitude problems and replaced by Hulkenburg

I can’t believe I predicted this, and it was almost exactly correct! :O
