Share your ideal F1 calendar here. The only regulations are that your calendar may have no more than twenty races, but please try to keep it fairly realistic (travel requirements, safety, circuit length, etc.)

@browny The Zandvoort/Spielberg sharing is an interesting choice, as is Potrero de los Funes. I don’t understand what so many people see in that circuit that I don’t. Overall it’s a decent calendar, about on par with the 2012 calendar in terms of quality, although it’s hard to judge considering Sochi and Potrero de los Funes have never been raced on by open wheel cars.

    Paul Ricard – 1
    Silverstone – 1
    Hungaroring – 1
    Spa-Francorchamps – 1
    Monza – 1
    Marina Bay – 1
    Suzuka – 1

That was an alternative calendar thread. Not quite the same. I think this one can stay.

Not necessarily the most realistic calendar regarding things like race contracts and circuit financial status, just a proposal of mine – the Formula One world circuit, where the championship literally circumnavigates around the world in successive order. This simplifies travel requirements, allows fans to tag along for specific “legs” of the season, and is, in my view, logical. (Of course, I’m probably ignoring things like weather and circuit availability, but bear with me.)

    1. Australian Grand Prix, Albert Park
    2. Malaysian Grand Prix, Sepang
    3. Turkish Grand Prix, Istanbul Park
    4. Hungarian Grand Prix, Hungaroring
    5. Spanish Grand Prix – Alternates between Catalunya and Valencia
    6. Monaco Grand Prix, Circuit de Monaco
    7. Italian Grand Prix, Monza
    8. Belgian Grand Prix, Spa-Francorchamps
    9. German Grand Prix – Alternates between Hockenheim and Nurburgring
    10. British Grand Prix – Silverstone
    11. Canadian Grand Prix – Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
    12. United States Grand Prix – Circuit of the Americas
    13. Japanese Grand Prix – Suzuka
    14. Chinese Grand Prix – Shanghai
    15. Singapore Grand Prix – Marina Bay
    16. Indian Grand Prix – Buddh
    17. Dutch Grand Prix – Zandvoort
    18. French Grand Prix – Circuit Paul Ricard
    19. Argentine Grand Prix – Potrero de los Funes

I like the idea of shared circuits within a country. Gets more countries on the schedule, while keeping some classic circuits in use.

    3. Chinese Grand Prix – Shanghai International Circuit

@stigrennfahrer I actually didn’t know that there are F1 fans out there who don’t have Monza on their ideal calendar. At least you gave Italy a race, at Imola.

@Joey-Zyla – I completely forgot Monza! I love that circuit, and can’t believe I missed it out! It was a simple omission, and I would cheerfully have it in place of the Macau Grand Prix! How could I forget that?!?

@joey-zyla Monza isn’t the best circuit on the calendar, really. It’s got a lot of history, and the crowd is incredible, but it’s no Spa. Imola is in some ways a more interesting track.
