I would have said finishing order, but then accidents and such can majorly affect such results, so, how do you think the grid will line up in Australia?
Based on either testing or just your thoughts?

Studying all the testing times, this turned out to be harder than I thought, I think for some of it I gave up, but here it is:

3. Vettel
4. Button
5. Webber
6. Alonso
7. di Resta
8. Rosberg
9. Schumacher
10. Hulkenberg
11. Grosjean

I highly doubt this is right, I think I just gave up and threw some names in an order, haha.

Or it will be Hamilton, Vettel, Raikonnen, Webber and Button. Either one in my books!

Interesting. May i ask why you put Raikonen so high on your list? Obiously nobody know’s, so im not saying you’re wrong, just wondering.

In my eyes, Raikonen showed good 1-lap pace, but Grosjean seems more consistent. Id put Grosjean higher on my list.

I think the pecking order will be RBR and McLaren out in front, with Mercedes leapfrogging Ferrari in pure performance. Raikkonen will show his one lap speed from the start however the Lotus will not be as fast as winter testing would have us believe. Alonso will do the maximum in a poorly performing Ferrari, Massa will be improved, but still behind Alonso’s raw speed. Schumi will still be a weak qualifier compared to Rosberg. Perez 10th…cos I like Perez! :)

I think Red Bull, and specifically Vettel, will still hold the edge in qualifying, so I’ll go for Vettel – Webber – Hamilton – Button – Alonso – Rosberg – Massa – Räikkönen – Schumacher – Grosjean – the rest.

I’m pretty sure this website will be holding its usual predictions contest again this year, starting with Australia :)

* Vettel is still a qualifying master. Hamilton shouldn’t be too far behind.
* I can see Alonso, Rosberg or Raikkonen gaining a few places if their cars end up being better than I expect them to be.
* Schumi’s not exactly known for his qualifying pace, so he may try to save tyres by not running in Q3.
* I don’t see Force India or Sauber breaking into the top ten yet.
* I do believe, however, that there’s a chance that one of the P11-P16 drivers will get caught out in Q3. Money’s on Vergne, but I’ll still go with this list, just for the heck of it.
* Regardless if the above happens or not, we can’t really tell for sure which of those three teams will have an easier time in qualifying. Sauber seems strong, but then so do Force India and Toro Rosso…
* Kovalainen should make it into Q2. If the above does end up happening, I think Maldonado should be able to outdo Senna and enter Q2. Yes, I said it.

@me4me – Firstly I’d like to say it’s not because I like the guy, as when he was in it before I really didn’t like him. After his stint in WRC i’ve grown a little fonder of him but my decision as to whether I like him will probably be made this year. The reason I have ranked Raikkonen so high is simply because, even though Lotus don’t seem particularly quick (ignore the countless fastest times) I just get this strange feeling that Raikkonen will pull something spectacular out of the bag in Australia.
What I hope the grid will be:

3. Perez
4. Kovalainen
5. Hulkenberg
6. Vergne
7. Button
8. Raikkonen
9. di Resta

Reality? I couldn’t possibly know. Testing didn’t give more insight either so i guess all we can do is wait and see!

Couldn’t possibly say, but there are a few observations I will make…

- The top 10 teams look really, properly close. Expect a few surprise podiums and wins over the season. HRT and Marussia look to be in serious trouble – don’t bargain on them being within 107%.
- Maybe not a crisis yet, but Ferrari look a bit behind the 8-ball. If they can’t do a McLaren last year, they could be in big trouble.
- The midfield of Sauber, Williams, Caterham and Force India look closer to the front this year. They also look close.
- Barring rain, accidents, teething troubles, etc., I expect McLaren and Red Bull to challenge for the win in Melbourne, followed by Mercedes and Renault, then the rest of the midfield. Wouldn’t bet on Marussia or HRT qualifying, but I’ve been wrong before…

Really, I just hope for a great race like Melbourne usually provides. The rest, frankly, is mere detail. Come on Kamui, come on Sauber!

For the season in General expect Mercedes to make a few podiums and sneak at least 1 win…also expect Force india to get at least a couple of podiums as well
