Just made a course on the outskirts of the Bhutanese capital of Thimphu. The elevation changes may be slightly ridiculous and you’d have to bulldoze a few trees, but all’s fair in the name of Formula 1…

    (To be run clockwise)

My Bhutanese sources tell me that is not really possible.

If Singapore is going to chnge their configuration, as has been suggested on certain other F1-related blogs, then here is my suggestion:

Not really a street circuit, and in no way feasible without it being a huge project with unlimited resources and ability to force companies and people to move (and maybe relocate a section of railway), but I like the idea nonetheless.

And this if it is too sacrilegious to build over the most famous section of historic banking:

Or perhaps this would be better as a separate thread re-imagining racetracks of the past and fixing new ones…

The length makes this ones impractical, but I love the shape:

    The oft fabled Basingstoke GP

The second one’s a bit long, but I like the many high speed duel-carriageway sections. And it has a tunnel section, so it’s at least as good as Monaco…

The even more prestigious GP of Hook. I can’t decide whether it should be clockwise as I plotted it or ant-clockwise. It’s too long for modern F1, probably too narrow even for 1950′s F1, but I like the shape, and even some of the plainer looking bends are tighter than they look and have great camber. Also the pits goes past my house.

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com?r=5079296

Also a considerably less narrow version. It also goes through a business park with Virgin Media and BMW offices, so it’s a realistic commercial prospect (the Virgin headquarters actually act’s as a run-off around the 4km mark).

It’s actually quite funny looking it up. The operational headquarters for Virgin Media in USA is New York, in the UK it’s Hook, a poky little village where you can’t get cable TV. A little less grand than New York, in case you didn’t realise, but it gives us a vague link to New York, and if they get a GP I demand we get the same.

The very first Isle of Wight street track based in and around my home town of East Cowes. Admittedly the map doesn’t take into account the fact that there is a fair bit of elevation change. It would be quite a fast street track I reckon!!

First race in Israel? Twisty but very quick! Seems like it would be fun to drive, and it would be good for just about any series.

Just South-West of Spa. Not very realistic for modern day F1, but great for historic touring cars or something.

    Dito for the “Nipponring”.

This is an epic idea, even if I say so myself: the Necropolis Speedway.

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5322271

A circuit with beautiful, fast curves and lots of undulation; on the doorstep of 7 million people and with one of the greatest backgrounds imaginable: the sphinx and the pyramids!

Bernie, you know what to do.

Where I live, it wouldn’t be a street circuit, it would be a rally stage
