F1 Fanatic - Formula E
A possible ‘leaked’ Rio track design.
Not 100% sure on how legit this article might actually be but the layout doesn’t look too bad.
Meh, a bit too much right-angled corners for my taste. I understand why they want to race in the big cities from a commercial point of view, but… why can’t they race 50% on street circuit and 50% on great (short) circuits like the Brands Hatch gentlemen’s circuit, the Zandvoort DTM lay-out and Paul Ricard?
At least the layout was designed by Di Grassi, who also has experience of driving the car. Tilke eat your heart out!
Any chance of having these added to the F1F calendar?
As a side spoint, I’m looking forward to FE more than the start of the F1 season… though not as much as my first ever visit to an F1 event, at Spa this year.
Will the race at Berlin take place on the Tempelhof airfield?
I thought it was written as Brandenburg, but it would make sense to use the abandoned airfield rather than the new hub airport.
with my father descending from Uruguay I would love to watch the race there. I hope they broadcast the broadcast the races in Australia one way or the other!
As far as I am aware, there are no plans to broadcast it on free-to-air television. Maybe Foxtel, but I’m not a subscriber.
I’d guess they will broadcast it either in Setanta Sports or Speed (both on Foxtel/Austar, whichever one you use), if they do go ahead and broadcast obviously.
The race in Rio de Janeiro has been cancelled without explanation in a release from the FIA World Motor Sport Council today.
The revised calendar is now:
13 September 2014 – Beijing, China
18 October 2014 – Putrajaya, Malaysia
13 December 2014 – Punta del Este, Uruguay
10 January 2015 – Buenos Aires, Argentina
14 February 2015 – TBA
14 March 2015 – Miami, USA
4 April 2015 – Los Angeles, USA
9 May 2015 – Monaco
30 May 2015 – Berlin, Germany
27 June 2015 – London, Great Britain
Hmmmm… A date mid-way between Argentina in January, and 2 US dates in March.
All circuits are in city centres. Might they run here, perhaps. Maybe as a dry run for holding a major international motor racing event at some point later that year/the year after?
