    I was looking for something else and came across this – a crash I hadn’t seen before from the F3 Open at Monza last year.

    Biagio Bulnes’s car was launched into the air after being hit by a competitor, then running over his own wheel which was tethered to his car:

    I remember discussions about this type of accident being possible when tethers were brought in. On the whole they’ve done a good job of improving safety by reducing the potential for wheels to fly off in accidents. But they aren’t without drawbacks of their own.
