    Hi guys,

I’ve been watching F1 since 1996 and i don’t think i’ve missed a single race since then (but i have fallen asleep during many boring Schumacher era races).

But i’ve never actually been to a race, so i think it’s about time i visit one! I’m from the Netherlands, so i want to visit Spa, sunday only, bronze tickets.

I’m looking for advice from people who have attended Spa.

I want to travel to Spa by car, i’ve read you really need to be sitting trackside at 8 in the morning if you want a good spot (like at a corner, in front of a TV screen?). Is this true?

And how bad is the traffic in the morning?
It takes me 3,5 hours to reach Spa by car, so if i want to be there at 8 o’clock i have to leave at 4 in the morning. But how bad will the traffic be? Will I be stuck in traffic for 2 hours when i reach Spa? Any experience with this?

What would be a good spot to watch the race?

I’m thinking “double gauche” would be a good spot?

What do you guys actually take with you to the track? Small folding chairs? I’m guessing i’ll be sitting on grass…. or will it be more like mud?

I’m hoping for some useful replies!

I will go to Spa for 6th race in a row. I went in 2007 after the rebuilding and I hadn’t missed any race yet. I am in search of tickets for Friday and I will sit at Eau Rouge (where else) on Saturday and Sunday.

    hi Chrisrhyswilliams
i have still not had an answer from spa-tickets.be and their phones go unanswered. can i ask what email address you used to communicate with them because they are not responding to the one i have. i may be fretting for no reason here but with leave, hotels etc booked, i cant afford for these not to come through.

    Hi Dean Harris,

the official web site or the race Spa-Francorchamps: http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/
    Tge Ticket office: http://www.spagrandprix.com/

A web site from the Netherland cannot be an official.

    Greetings from Francorchamps

    Hi All.

In need of some good information. Has anybody ever booked tickets through the official Formula1.com / WWTE website? My friend booked two weekend GA tickets for Spa and shes now not able to come on the trip. The vouchers they emailed her have both her names on and not mine anywhere, which is a problem as they ask for photo ID when you redeem the vouchers. At no point did they ask for the name of the other traveller (me), so to my understanding without her the vouchers cannot be redeemed. I’ve rung WWTE three times now and got no further on to rectifying this to simply changing the name of the ‘lead traveller’ so I can redeem the vouchers. WWTE said they will ring the ‘vendor’ (i assume the circuit) and ask if they can change the name on the voucher. But from what I understand, if they say no I am basically screwed and they have robbed us of £250. At NO point in the booking process did they ask for my name.
I imagine this isn’t the first time this has happened and wondered if anybody has any experience of this and how fair they end up being, or if they just dont care when you turn up to redeem the vouchers?
Anything you can help me with I will be most grateful for!

    Thanks

    - it was just info@spa-tickets.be
It came up as marilyn wout
I guess maybe they’re busier this time of year – I was concerned like yourself – I actually posted in here about it
as I said though I needn’t have worried so I hope you’re reassured

    hi dean,
I also booked my tickets through spa-tickets.be (back in october) Marilyn was really helpful in changing the delivery address when I moved house in december and my tickets arrived in May.

I’m staying at the camping that is run by the racing hotel, anyone ever stayed here?

    Hi everyone!
We’re going to the Belgian GP for the first time this year – really excited!
We’re staying at the Camping F1 campsite near Lodomez. I’m just a bit worried about getting to the circuit in the mornings as we haven’t booked coach travel. We’re happy to drive – does anyone have experiences of driving to and from the circuit? what is the traffic like and how much will it be to park? We only have general admission tckets so will need to get there early to get a good spot on the bank!
Thanks everyone – see you there :)

I also booked through spatickets.be and yet to receive the tickets. I emailed them and was told they will be sending tickets out 7-10 days prior to the event so fingers crossed I will be receiving them soon….hope so as its my first trip to spa and first ever live F1 experience despite following it from my armchair for the past 20 years!!

we booked through pillow adventure travel who provide coach from London, ferry, campsite, tent, bedding, breakfast each day and a return trip to london all for a very reasonable £200. Anyone else on here travelling with these guys?

Hey all. I have booked tickets through Spa-tickets.Be and have heard nothing from them. I receive no replies to emails and the phone lines are never manned, getting worried that i’ve been ripped off. Does anyone have any experience of these guys. I would love to know that my tickets will arrive soon.

Not long now, this will be my first Belgian GP. I’ve done Singapore, Silverstone, Korea (1 per year for the past 3 seasons) and loving it! I imagine this experience will be more like Silverstone as obviously didn’t camp at Singapore and Korea I had a delightful trek from Gwangju (that ended up in free paddock passes!). I’ve camped on the continent before, but it’s always a pain taking stuff on the plane so this time I’m making the drive from Nottingham – Reckoning about 8-10 hours transit but should be fun, especially since I’ve never driven on the wrong side of the road before. Also gives us chance to have a little Belgian holiday after.

Got GA for the first time since Spa looks great for it and gone for Green camping as seems to be on the side of the track with most Bronze access so hopefully this will work out. Kinda of wished I’d looked around at campsites though, as hoping it’s not too noisy/dirty!

Anyway, my query is what you are allowed to take into Bronze/GA – I’m hoping to take a chair, umbrella and a cooler with some beer/food. I seem to recall something about them being OK about the latter in the past, but can anyone confirm from previous years whether you’re allowed this sort of thing? Also wondering what the frequency of facilities are like in the bronze areas, such as toilet, food stalls, bars, shops? I’m gonna pick up Fanvision, and I know in places like SG they had charging stations for them but I didn’t require as was in a hotel, so wondering if Spa will have these?

    Can’t wait!!!

Hi Alan, we’re in the same boat as you! 1st time at Spa and driving from Mansfield, we’re camping at the Elephant though, but other than that my questions are the same as yours! will our little 2 person shelter tent get trampled by Germans??

    Hi

I’ve booked tickets for this gp through the ticket enterprise and am getting very worried now with three weeks to go no tickets have arrived yet and this company seem to have dropped off the radar not replying to emails or answering there phones.
I’ve been onto the circuit direct and they say they have received no payment from these people for there ticket allocation yet.
Is anyone else here in the same boat ?

@Alan; I have been to F1 at Spa the last 5 years on a row and stayed at Camping Green last year, no problems at all if you like basic camping ;-)

It has pretty clean toilets a bar (draft beer for € 1,50) and clean showers (€ 2,50 for each time you take a shower).

When you enter GA (Bronze) you can take everything what you want expect glass bottles (umbrellas, chair, cooler and even small BBQ is not a problem).

I wish you a good racing weekend (hopefully we have great weather till the race starts on Sunday).
