Silverstone have confirmed tickets will be available on the gate this year:

Silverstone Circuit has confirmed that tickets for this weekend’s 2013 FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX will remain on sale during the event, enabling fans to ‘buy on the gate’ when they arrive at the circuit.

The best prices to attend the UK’s premier motor sport event are still available via the Silverstone website – http://www.silverstone.co.uk – or Silverstone Call Centre until 12 noon on Thursday. After this time tickets will be available ‘on the gate’, with prices starting at:

    – £75 for General Admission on Friday (£37 for children*)
    – £100 for General Admission on Saturday (£50 for children*)
    – £200 on Sunday, when only grandstand tickets remain available
    – £235 for 3 Day grandstand tickets – for Practice on Friday, Qualifying on Saturday and the main race on Sunday – which will be available to purchase on Thursday afternoon, Friday and Saturday

Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, said: “While we don’t expect to reach the record attendance levels of 2011 and 2012, we are anticipating another big crowd here at Silverstone this weekend. Ticket sales were slower than usual during the initial sales period, but we have seen a significant upturn in interest and buying patterns since F1 returned to Europe. This, coupled with an improvement in the weather and a promising forecast for the weekend, has prompted us to put measures in place to sell tickets to fans deciding to turn up on the day. This weekend’s attendance looks set to be one of our biggest in recent years.”

‘On the day’ tickets will be available to purchase at Gate 1. Parking will also be available for fans driving to the circuit, costing £20 per car on Friday, £30 per car on Saturday and £60 per car on Sunday.

Grandstand upgrades will also be available for fans to purchase once they are at the event. A limited number of grandstand seats will be available for anyone wanting to upgrade their General Admission ticket to a Grandstand seat on either Saturday or Sunday. ‘Upgrades’ can be purchased from relevant ticket booths located within the venue.

Yep such a shame. Really wanted to take my 3 kids but priced out of it. Took them to Barcelona in May: 3 day ticket for me and two of my kids including parking £120. Even after flights and a week all in-clusive still cheaper than the British Grand Prix and camping in a field

Hi all, quick question about buying tickets from the Silverstone website.

Me and my partner are joining a group of friends who’ve already booked a weekend tickets with reserved grandstand seating and ideally we want to be sat with our friends. When in the process can you pick the seats for Sunday? Having tried a dummy order run, I had expected there to be a seating plan to pick the exact seats after having selected the block, but there doesn’t seem to be an option. Can anyone help? I want to book my tickets before the early bird offer ends on 31 August.
