Silverstone has added extra grandstands for this year’s race, increasing capacity by 3,500. Press release below:

In response to high levels of demand and ticket sales for this year’s FORMULA 1™ SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX (06-08 July), Silverstone has announced that it is adding two new grandstands to increase capacity at the UK’s premier motor sport event. Tickets in the new grandstands are now on sale.

Ticket sales for the British Grand Prix are up 10% on the same period last year with several grandstands already sold out, including all traditional ‘Silver’ category grandstands and the majority of ‘Platinum’ grandstands.

The two new grandstands – the ‘Luffield Complex Grandstand’ and ‘Silverstone Grandstand’ – will be located in Luffield Complex and on National Pits Straight respectively and will enable more than 3,500 additional fans to experience the thrill and excitement of live Formula 1™.

Seats in the ‘Silverstone’ stand are categorised as ‘Silver’ grandstand tickets, making them the only ‘Silver’ graded grandstand tickets still available, while ‘Luffield Complex Grandstand’ tickets are categorised as ‘Gold’.

“We had fantastic crowds on all three days of last year’s British Grand Prix and interest in this year’s event has been even higher. Increasing our capacity will enable even more fans to experience the spectacle, excitement and drama of Formula One at Silverstone,” commented Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited. “We pride ourselves on striving to provide the best experience for fans – with grandstands and General Admission areas offering exceptional views of the track, first class spectator facilities and a host of exhilarating off-track entertainment, the fans can expect another fantastic three days at this year’s British Grand Prix.”

In addition, Silverstone has launched a new ticket offer for General Admission tickets on the Friday and Saturday of the Formula 1™ British Grand Prix – offering four tickets for the price of three.

Tickets for the 2012 FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX are on sale 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Visit http://www.silverstone.co.uk or call 0844 3728 300.
