    Hi Mike_t

Train from Cannes to the Monaco Grand Prix is probably your best option unless you fancy a helicopter – which is really straightforward and great fun but expensive.

    Train, Cannes – Monaco:
Take train from Cannes to Monaco Monte Carlo. At Monaco railway station, take the middle exit, down the steps/escalators under the platform, down another couple of escalators and along a tunnel to the Sainte Devote exit. This brings you directly onto the circuit at Sainte Devote/Tabac corner and you are right at the circuit.

This site will give you all the train info you need.

Travel time depends on how many stops the particular service makes but should be around 45 – 60 mins or thereabouts.

Have a great time, if I can help with anything else feel free to post here or PM me. We send a map and info pack to our guests which might be of use, if you send me your email address I’ll forward it.

    I hope that helps

    Hi irishlady

There are lots of restaurants and bars for you to enjoy over the weekend where you don’t need tickets, there are also parties, clubs and yacht parties etc. which you would need tickets for but the majority of those will be over 100€ and if they’re not I would question what you’re paying for…you get what you pay for at most of the cheap yacht/club parties so I would either go for a decent one or one of the venues that don’t charge entry.

The atmosphere around the harbour, along the start/finish straight and throughout Monaco is great so if it were me I would stick around that area. Casino Square will be good also but on Casino Sq itself you really only have the casino, Cafe de Paris and the American Bar of Hotel de Paris (latter two are expensive).

La Rascasse is good on a Friday but as I’ve mentioned in previous posts the atmosphere is somehow different, more aggressive, on Sunday after the race. This is from personal experience and feedback from quite a few of our guests. There are lots of venues in the harbour and along start/finish straight so don’t worry about finding somewhere.

If you would like a copy of the info pack we’ll be sending our own Monaco Grand Prix 2013 guests let me know and I’ll forward it.
    I hope that helps
    Ed

And re your taxi irishlady, Monaco to Menton shouldn’t be expensive and certainly not split between 4 of you but I would book in advance as there are a very limited number of taxis in Monaco and they are under significant pressure throughout the GP weekend.

Hi FugareF1 Ed! Thank you for the info! I already booked parking place along with the tickets. I’ve been to Monaco before and hope to find the way to one of these parkings. Can you tell more precise how early shall I come? At 8 – 9 am or earlier? Thank you!!

    On race day?

I personally would want to be parked before 7am because after that and with the roads being closed to make up the race circuit traffic could be a mess. You might get lucky and have no problems, or you might just want to take the risk of being delayed but personally that’s what I would be aiming for.

    All the best

    Hi,

I’ve got tickets to the race (K4) and need to catch a flight home from Nice at 7.15 on the Sunday night. Will there be any problem getting on a train after the race or should I consider the helicopter at €250 to get me to the airport?

    Thanks

    Mark

    Hi Mark

They will be busy but you shouldn’t have any problem getting on a train after the race providing they are running, i.e. not on strike.

Helicopter is around 10 minutes to Nice airport from the helipad in Monaco and is operated like a taxi shuttle after the race so the queues can be long, my advice would be to purchase your ticket in advance and get to the helipad as quickly as you can after the race.
    Regards
    Ed

    Hi All,

Someone mentioned that the Pits are open on Friday if you hold a weekend ticket, does that mean you need a Saturday and Sunday ticket or will my Sunday tickets get me in??

    Cheers,
    Murray

    Hi Murray

Your Sunday only tickets are fine for the Friday free pit walk.

    Hello all,

I am attending Thursday and Sunday. We are staying along the coast between Monaco and Nice near Eze. Our rental is very near the train station “Gare de Eze-Bord-de-Mer”. Should we take the train into Monaco…or bus or taxi? What time do you recommend we leave for Monaco on Thursday and Sunday? Thursday I am attending with my son and daughter, Sunday I am going solo (K5).

    Thanks!

    Hi Bolo.

Go for the train. Mind your pockets/wallet etc. there are pickpockets very active during the gp when the trains are busy but the train is much more straightforward than bus and taxi.

In terms of time it depends what you what to see and how long you want to spend in Monaco, how old are your son and daughter? My kids are 6, 7 and 9 but get very bored after the initial thrill wears off. Being on a grandstand all day would be very difficult with my kids…just for example.

The race schedule for Thursday and Sunday 2012 was as follows to give you an idea of timings so you can pick the races/sessions you may want to see.

7h00 Closing of the race track
    8h30 – 9h15 Formula Renault 3.5 – Practice session
    10h00 – 11h30 Formule 1 – 1st practice session
    12h00 – 12h30 GP2 – Practice session
    14h00 – 15h30 Formule 1 – 2nd practice session
    15h55 – 16h30 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – Practice session
    16h55 – 17h30 GP2 – Qualifying sessions
    18h15 – 18h55 GP3 – Practice session
20h00 Opening of the race track

7h00 Closing of the race track
9h45 – 10h20 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – Start of the Race (16 laps or 30 mins max)
    11h10 – 12h00 Formula Renault 3.5 – Start of the Race (44 mins + 1 lap)
    12h30 Formule 1 – Drivers track parade
14h00 Formule 1 – Start of the 70th GRAND PRIX AUTOMOBILE DE MONACO (78 laps or 2h max)
19h00 Opening of the race track

I hope that helps and that you all have a great time.
    Kind regards
    Ed

Hi, what is the baggage policy for the race? I am thinking of bring my stuff to the race and go directly to the airport. the bag would be a medium backpack / should carry type back which would be able to fit comfortably under my seat. Would this be allowed in?

  • Profile picture of FugareF1 Ed FugareF1 Ed said 3 months, 1 week ago:

Hi Benedict, you should be ok with a medium sized backpack although security will probably ask you to open it.
    Regards
    Ed
