If you’re in the Zone 1 seating area unless your hotel is specifially in the Gate 1 area you should prefer Gate 2. Gate 2 is very close to the Esplanade MRT and is around 10 mins walk to Pit Grandstand – mostly along the side of the track so if you’re running late you still get a bit of a view. Gate 1 transport is a long walk in the opposite direction from the city centre and is a bit of a waste of time if you’re hotel is in the city. Don’t bother with a taxi if you’re in the city, they either can’t get close to the gates or are reluctant to do so as they may get stuck in traffic and miss other fares. You might be able to pick one up on exit but getting to the track is better by MRT or foot.
