F1 Fanatic - Going to the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas
I just saw a tweet about this post. Haven’t been here in over a year, but I thought I’d come back & share some of what/who I saw over the USGP weekend from my albums on our Facebook page (FoF1ATX):
Wednesday…Fill ‘er up, Fernando:
Thursday & Friday at COTA:
Thanks everyone for the great pictures. The track really offers beautifull spots for pictures, the red blue and white stripes accentuate the cars really nicely and maybe the November light also helps.
Great job, thanks
Some of you guys have incredible access! I had to do with walking around! Will have my top 10 uploaded by weekend
Panasonic Lumix FZ150 – bought the camera on the way to the US, so just experimenting. Not sure how to paste the images in posts, so:
We watched the start from opposite the pit exit, then wandered round to our seats at T5
Hope they’re visible now
Locally there was much talk about the Prairie Restoration they did at the track. Some considered it pretty weak and simply a ploy to get more government funding, but some is certainly better than none:
The landscaping was also interesting. I look forward to all the Cacti being larger in the future, will definitely help heighten the atmosphere:
Here is my entire set of images from the weekend.
My pictures are here: http://w11.zetaboards.com/Motorsports_Mayhem/topic/8266237/1/
Here’s some video from 2014 of the cars during free practice. I took some photos too but need to sort through them. The final video clip was shot from the top of the T15 grandstand which is where I watched the race – possibly the best seats in the whole circuit!
Finally able to go thru a few of the pics from last weekend. Had a really great weekend…..camped above T11 on Mr. Haywood’s property. CoTA stepped it up this year. I had gone to Montreal in June and had such a great experience, I was prepared to be disappointed in Austin this year. These are a from the T15 area. With the increase in acceleration this year, there were a lot more passes & attempted passes in the T12-16 area this year.
