Hmm…cream rising to the top in Europe?(I’m referring to pre-season favourites Calado and Nasr)
It’s a DAMS 1-2 in quali, with Ericsson ahead of Richelmi, then Nasr, Bird, Coletti, Leimer, Calado, Frijns, Ceccon and Giovesi..
The DAMS cars are looking mighty through the final sector: indicates they have a lot of mechanical grip. Richelmi will be happy with that, considering his home GP is basically all about mechanical grip. The scariest thing is: Ericsson’s ultimate lap is three tenths faster than his pole lap!
Top eight: the usual suspects (though Richelmi is a bit of a surprise), followed by Ceccon and Giovesi? Didn’t expect that. Very disappointed with Evans and Dillmann though.
@andae23 Is Frijns already considered a “usual suspect” in his second qualifying session in the GP2 series?
Will definitely be watching this weekend!
Very impressive from Frijns, only one and a half tenths off of the fastest non-DAMS car! Not sure what happened to Evans though, I was expecting at least a top 10 result for him.
@roald Yes: I mean, last week he already qualified tenth (he admitted he could have gone a few tenths faster), so I expected him to do even better this weekend – and he did. If he keeps improving like that throughout the season, he will be a front-runner by the time we get to Abu Dhabi :)
The new Hilmer livery in action:
And the new ART design:
ART have also updated their GP3 Series livery to mirror the GP2 design:
Both liveries are considerably better than their previous ones.
Now if only the other GP3 teams had done the same…it’ll be difficult for us to distinguish all the white cars…
Robin Frijns takes his maiden GP2 win ahead of Carlin duo Felipe Nasr and Jolyon Palmer. They were followed by Jon Lancaster, Stefano Coletti, Tom Dillmann, Alexander Rossi, Kevin Ceccon(reverse grid pole), Johnny Cecotto Jr. and Rio Haryanto..
Rossi 7th…I’m impressed with his form so far.
Now I’m really bummed out the former F1 rights holder here was showing WTCC and Indy reruns instead of the Gp2 race.. Excellent result from Frijns, I literally bursted into a cheer reading that! I expected him to win this season, but not this fast!
Here’s Berthon’s crash with Canamasas and Dillmann:
Good race. Impressed with Frijins and Nars. Nars came from behind after the stops and made i think 5 overtakes to finish second.
That crash was very messy. I could be mistaken, but I’ve seen a lot of these kinds of accidents -simply not taking eachothers’ braking points and positions on the road into account- in GP3 and GP2.
