Addax have made the surprise announcement that Dani Clos will take over from Josef Kral this weekend:

It’s not clear why the change has been made or whether it’s permanent.

Well, at least they have someone capable of winning them a race now. Unfortunately they still have Cecotto. Kral has at least shown flashes of potential over the years. Wonder what went wrong here… money, obviously, but how/why?

Maybe he just didn’t want to go to Bahrain.

    That’s a possibility!

I remember James Calado was less than impressed with the prospect of two rounds of the GP2 championship in Bahrain when the calendar was first announced. He posted the message on Twitter, but it was taken down. Very quickly.

Although I think his reaction had more to do with the actual circuit and the idea of racing there twice rather than anything to do with the protests. And he does have a point – the organisers made a mistake with the calendar.

Ocean’s Jon Lancaster has also been replaced, with Brendon Hartley brought into the team:

As with Clor replacing Kral, no explanation has been given for this.
