GP2 and GP3 will make up for the loss of their races at the Nurburgring in Germany by adding an extra round at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The races will take place one week before their season finales at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, and will support the World Endurance Championship Six Hours of Bahrain.

For the GP2 drivers it will be the second event in Bahrain this year – the April season-openers were won by Stoffel Vandoorne and Rio Haryanto.

This is the second time the GP2 calendar has featured a total of four races in Bahrain: in 2011 Davide Valsecchi won three of the races and Tom Dillmann took the fourth.

Awesome! More GP2 racing! Also, have GP3 ever been to Bahrain?

That’s great, more room for Vandoorne to break Maldonado his record.

Makes sense, the calendars were starting to look a little thin, and with the cost of flying out to Abu Dhabi, this is now effectively halved with double the racing including Bahrain. Will be interesting to see a bill of WEC, GP2, GP3…

Nope, this is the first time for them.
