    A “big name” has signed for GP3- Kevin Korjus will switch to the category after two years in FR3.5. Korjus raced for Koiranen in his successful FR2.0 days and has previously tested a GP3 car. With Korjus on the grid, both Lotus and Red Bull are represented in the category.

    If that’s true, it’s a bit of a step down for him. But then, I suspect that Ferrari arranged for Tech-1 Racing to support Jules Bianchi from the start of the season when they were team-mates in Formula Renault 3.5, which would explain why Korjus seemed to have such a difficult time when he had been a race-winner the year before.

    I’m guessing that, as the new team, Koiranen GP are going to present their team and drivers together in one go. I know Kevin Korjus has already been confirmed with the team, but his space on the GP3 Series website is blank.

    Failing that, it will probably be either Manor announcing their drivers, or ATECH CRS, since they’re the only two teams who have not confirmed anyone.

    Vainio, Korjus and Kujala are confirmed at Koiranen. This will be Vainio’s third season in GP3, while Korjus apparently goes down a step by confirming his debut in GP3 after two years of WSR 3.5. I have never heard of Kujala before!

    @andae23 Kujala raced in French F4 in 2010 and in Formula Renault Alps last year, where he won the Juniors’ championship. Although he didn’t finish higher than fifth, he scored 7 fifth places, enough to warrant him 6th overall. I still think a GP3 jump is premature for him, though- he needs another season in FR Eurocup. But he’s shown strong displays of speed before and should be a decent addition to Koiranen’s mighty Nordic line-up.

    I have no idea who Kujala is, either, but based on the photo posted on GP3 Series site, I assume that he has been moonlighting as a model for some time.
