WEC LMP2 champion Martin Plowman will drive for AJ Foyt Enterprises at both Indianapolis races: http://www.motorsport.com/indycar/news/martin-plowman-is-set-to-drive-the-indy-double/
Surprise move, but the 2012 Star Mazda champion has an Indycar seat.
Oriol Servia has signed with Rahal-Letterman: http://news.yahoo.com/servia-run-least-4-races-2nd-rahal-car-152631233–spt.html
Not content with sportscar and Nascar racing, Alex Tagliani adds the Indy 500 to his 2014 schedule: http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/tagliani-indy-500-ride-sarah-fisher-22899225
John “JR” Hildebrand joins Ed Carpenter Racing for the Indianapolis 500: http://www.edcarpenterracing.com/Hildebrand-Joins-ECR-For-Indy-5.news
It’s a bold move for Carpenter Racing to take on specialists (Carpenter for ovals, Conway for road courses, and Hildebrand for the 500) in this day and age.
As I understand it, Fuzzy’s Vodka was quite keen on the idea of having their team up front more often ;-)
Carpenter didn’t come from a road racing background (USAC dirt track ovals, to be exact) so I don’t think there’ll be that much data for Conway to work with on his appearances. Unlike Dale Coyne Racing, he won’t have a strong teammate to exchange information with, so I wouldn’t expect a repeat of the Detroit 2013 performance.
Carlos Huertas is in at Dale Coyne Racing, according to the St Petersburg entry list: http://www.imscdn.com/indycar_media/documents/2014-03-27/St%20Pete%20Entry%20List%202014.pdf
It’s a good move if it works… there are a plethora of drivers about.. so pick the best one for each discipline. Hildebrand has the 500 result, Carpenter for Ovals and Conway good on the road.
Forgot to update this..

Lazier Partners Racing also return to the race: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/113382
In a surprise move, Andretti Autosport have announced the return of Franck Montagny to their Indycar team for the Indianapolis Grand Prix. He previously made one Indycar start with Andretti at Sonoma in the 2009 season.
Really glad to see Montagny get a proper crack. I was very disappointed when he was shunted out of F1 to make room for Sakon Yamamoto.
Similar could be said for quite a few Indycar drivers (and Indy Lights in the case of Luiz Razia).
Agreed.. it would be nice to see Montagny get the full 2006 season, but I guess they needed some money and hence Ide and Yamamoto also drove.
On Razia.. I would rather have seen him in F1 driving for Marussia than Chilton. He’s at least won F3 Sudamericana before moving to Europe.
Speaking of Brazilians, from the Barber entry lists it looks like Nicolas Costa has a full-time Pro Mazda seat. He did very well last year in his select appearances, after winning the Formula Abarth title in 2012.
Sage Karam is apparently being entered for the Indy 500 with Ganassi, although I can’t read the full report in the Indy Star (subscription is required).
