Baltimore terminated its contract with the organizers of the Baltimore Grand Prix on Friday and opened the door to others interested in continuing the race in future years.
Apparently the city wants the race but the original promoters didn’t pay their debts. Hope someone steps up to the plate.
By all accounts the Baltimore race was a popular round and attracted a good crowd. This news is obviously yet more bad news for the series.
Personally I didn’t care for the circuit nor for the growing dominance of street tracks in IndyCar but those are moot points when we’re talking about a championship that just needs events that work. Sadly it looks like this one didn’t.
Surprised to read that author considers the Detroit race “shaky”. It’s got title sponsorship from Chevrolet, who of course are coming back into IndyCar this year.
