It’s looking increasingly like this is going to happen:

“It’s no secret all parties are working incredibly hard to make this thing come together,” KV Racing General Manager Mark Johnson told SPEED.com. “Rubens is working hard in Brazil and we’re working hard in the States. We get closer on a daily basis. We talk to Rubens three to five times a day to push this thing forward and we all believe this is going to happen.”

@Keith Collantine This is getting me really buzzed up, hopefully God gives him his reward In Indycar’s for getting 2nd rate treatment and Machinery when he was team-mates with MSC and BUTTon.

What’s wrong with Texas? Is it a similarly structured oval to that of Las Vegas Speedway?

@ajokay It’s pretty close – they’re both 1.5-mile ovals, Texas has 24-degree banking, Las Vegas 20-degree. I know at Las Vegas the banking is progressive – i.e., the higher you go the steeper it gets. I’m not sure if that’s the same at Texas.

But the field spread at the Las Vegas IndyCar race was much less (i.e. the cars were closer together) than at Texas, as described in this earlier article:

@enigma yeah, that one. He missed a couple of races, was DQ after a win because he had some gaffa tape on the car, and still fought it hard in the end.

He then moved to Indycar Lights last year and scored many poles, some wins and podiums and finished runner-up. KV Racing said they are interested in hiring him, but he’s yet to find the money… as the argentinean goverment is busy playing internal politics he’s really struggling for support.

But some sources say that he’s getting there anyway! I hope he does, he’s a true talent and it’d be brilliant to finally have a proper driver from our country racing in a big motorsport series like IndyCar.

Nice quote from Barrichello in the current issue of Autosport:

I thought of the possibility of [IndyCar] offering me a chance to race and then not doing the ovals, but that’s being too much of a chicken. I love the challenge of going to race on an oval.

@KeithCollantine Gotta love that sound sounds like an 80′s F1 car, sounds better than the cars nowadays.
