You know, I’m not sure I’d ever seen a wet race session at Long Beach until now.

Here’s footage from today’s practice which started in damp conditions.

Look out for Scott Dixon getting rather close to the wall at one point – and Simona de Silvestro and Takuma Sato making contact with it:

Marco Andretti was fastest on a 1’17.2298, ahead of Sato and last year’s winner Mike Conway.

Some good stuff there. Shame the race most likely wont be a wet one.

Longbeach looking really spectacular there in the wet!

It was even wetter for second practice and hardly anyone left the pits.

Dixon was one of few exceptions but he aquaplaned into a wall – and it sounds like he was right next a microphone too!:

Dry weather for practice three but still quite a few incidents: James Hinchcliffe, Tony Kanaan and Helio Castroneves all hit the barrier at turn five. Look how much air Kanaan got:

Will Power was quickest on a 1’10.7553, ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay and Castroneves. Rubens Barrichello was 13th.
