Casey Stoner will not be able to close his career with a title as he will go for surgery following his terrible crash at Indianapolis. He will miss the race at Brno and probably Misano. The race in Brno will be missed by Nicky Hayden and Hector Barbera, too.

Feel very sorry for Stoner. If he wouldn’t have fallen from his bike at Sachsenring the points gap to Lorenzo would be very small, but this is the nail in his coffin. Shame he can’t retire with the title. Now let’s hope Pedrosa can catch Lorenzo, he’s in great form, winning 2 of the 3 last races.

I think it’s been out of the question for a while now. He simply hasn’t been beating Lorenzo regularly enough, and when he does, he’s not making much of a dent in Lorenzo’s points lead and Lorenzo tends to bounce back pretty quickly. Stoner was in with a chance, but he really would have had to have produced something special to defend his title. Lorenzo is simply too strong.

Gutted for him, when he announced his retirement everyone was saying how he was likely to be able to retire with the title in hand, but to have everything go to pieces must be very depressing. Hope he can make it for the last few races. Pedrosa is looking good, though.
