I just read about the Race at Pocono Raceway having been cut short due to rain and one fan having been struck by lightning and killed and 9 others having been injured.
I am very sorry to hear this and would want to give my support to their families. Also I am relieved the rest of the 80.000+ fans were not hurt, as it seemed a really big storm out there, just look at the picture here http://www.f1pulse.com/UserFiles/Image/August2012/nascar-060812.jpg
Here’s the Pocono Raceway CEO giving an update. In addition to the 41-year-old fan who lost his life, another suffered “critical” injuries:
What a terrible thing to happen.
RIP. My thoughts are with his family.
What a sad story. My condolences to the family members of the victim and a speedy recovery to all the people that have been hurt.
Here’s a report on it from a local newspaper, featuring some quotes from fans and from Jeff Gordon who won the race
And a tweet from Pocono Raceway CEO saying he and his family are praying for all involved: https://twitter.com/bigdalsky/status/232313117303005184
