    @fer-no65 I think it’s because you can go slightly quicker on the outside as you’re turning angle is less than it would be on the inside. Not to mention that anyone who came out of the draft would slow down immediately – which is why the commentator kept saying ‘who’s gonna go for it/make the move’!

    @electrolite Yeah, that was a very unusual finish. All the previous 500s I’ve seen have had plenty of drivers making moves at the finish.

    This was the first race for NASCARs brand new aero package. It seems to me that the cars are far more draft-sensitive than they used to be and lose too much speed out of the slipstream. Which explains why they were so reluctant to pull out from the train.
