The racing drivers’ book of excuses just got a new addition.

Danica Patrick was leading the NASCAR Nationwide race at Montreal when she hit a shoe which had been thrown onto the circuit.

She dropped back with handling troubles, lost the lead to Jacques Villeneuve and a part later fell off the rear of her car:

Her original description of the problem was a little more explicit!

Villeneuve went into the last lap of the race in the lead on home ground but was running low on fuel and was pushed wide by Justin Allgaier, then also passed by Sam Hornish Jnr. He finished third.

Why is it that Villeneuve can win in Nascar but he comes dead last in V8 Supercars.

    Keith – typo – hit a shoe, not a show :)
