    Personally, I’m very impressed with the way Nasser has driven the Hummer. Considering they were teaching him the gear pattern a couple of weeks ago. If Nasser would commit some money to Robby for next year, they could win. A little money would go a long way. Both are good drivers.

    I’m Nasser’s fan too, he’s currently the Lewis Hamilton of the Dakar. But I think he drives too aggressively which makes it hard on the machinery. His Hummer has consistently been having more troubles than Gordon’s. Don’t know how much of that is due to his driving though.

    @John,
    They say English is the language of international motor racing, but when it comes to Dakar it certainly isn’t. I think if you search in YouTube you’d get some old documentaries in German or French. There’s virtually nothing on Cyril Neveu, the first ever Dakar winner in motorcycles, except for some hazy documentary taken sometime in 1980 or ’81 I guess.

    @pt Thanks I will have look.

    I agree with you, Nasser`s a bit too agressive, in some cases his speed nearly cost him big time like when he hit that group of trees or taking that turn and almost ended up upside down.

    He said that he hoped to be in another team next year. we will have to wait and see.

    @John

    And now Nasser’s out. I wonder why didn’t he try to secure a drive with the X-Raid team rather than team up with this Hummer squad. But it was really great to have Nasser and his Hummer onboard this year’s Dakar. They certainly spiced up the action, but Ari Vatanen’s record stays.

    @PT Im sorry he`s gone, would have loved to see where he finished. Robbie Gorden said he went home. Can only think he was frustrated with the hummer.

    @TONY77 Im a truck fan Geraad De Rooy is my choice.

    What do you guys think about the organisers giving Deprez his lost time back after he got stuck in the mud? Surely that cant be right?

    @ Tonino

    “Anyone interested in the truck race?” You bet!

    Thanks for the links, mate. I wanted Loprais to win. He was good last year too but I think he retired with some mechanical issue. And now he’s out again due to some silly error by his co-pilot. Loprais was frank in the interview, squarely attacking him. But you’ve got to feel for these folks. After a long stage they sure get tired, but now it’s taken away the nail biting competition. But how much has Kamaz changed! Is it only the lack of experienced drivers such as Kabirov and Vladimir to blame?

    Since you seem to be a truck guy mate (and I’m only getting into it), does the particular engine layout of the protruding bonnet on Loprais’ Tatra and De Rooy’s Iveco give them any advantage over the other ‘regular’ looking trucks?

    I’d also like to know if you’re interested in the FIA Truck Racing championship (something like that is there in the FIA menu right?) If so, could you furnish me with some links to those machines?

    @John

    What do you make of Robby Gordon’s expulsion from the race? Is it time for controversy theories?

  • Profile picture of john john said 1 year, 4 months ago:

    @PT

    I just dont know, he doesnt seem like the type of guy who would try to gain an unfair advantage “I hope not anyway” The Hummer passed inspection first time round.

    He did hit that rock but all that damage would have been fixed.

    Hey…I have no idea about the differences between both truck engine. I’m a fan of rally race…and I like Biasion as a driver. I saw him to run with his lancia delta ECV (600 HP at 8000 rpm)…it was amazing!!

    Since I like rally I prefer to see the dakar race only with car and truck (especially with truck ’cause they’re more powerfull ).

    I dont like at all to see bikes and quands in the race. It dag’s reallyerous for riders…and every years we can see fatal crashes.

    for your information try to get a look on the official site http://www.fia.com/en-GB/Pages/HomePage.aspx

    @John,

    Thanks for the links mate. At least the Hummer is allowed to run, so there will be some excitement anyway till the finish.

  • Profile picture of PT PT said 1 year, 4 months ago:

    @Tonino

    Thank you for the great links. Out here in India trucks are perceived as nothing more than goods carriers. But the “raw” feel they have is truly one of a kind. We don’t have foreign brands such as Iveco, MAN or Tatra here.

    I do agree that bikes are too dangerous. Was really horrified to see Quinn Cody’s crash on the Honda on Stage 2.

    @ John

    CNN really needs to work on getting the names right – “Bobby Gordon,” “Mark Como”
