Two things wrong with this England side:
1) The quality of players. Upson and Johnson have been terrible, is the best back-up England have?
2) The tactics. Capello insists on playing formations alien to what the players play in the league, and doesn’t play tried-and-tested partnerships (Crouch and Defoe, for instance)
The decision was appalling, yes, but on the performance overall we would have gone out to Argentina anyway.
