Well I’m supporting Germany (and I hope we win the cup), Chile, and all the African teams too. A shame that TV isn’t broadcasting the Korea match here in Viņa del Mar.

I’m not really a fan of football but make an exception when it comes to the WC. I’ll be supporting zee Germans as I like their style of play. If they don’t win then either the Brazilians (because they’re so entertaining) or South Africa. Now that would be a great storyline.

I doubt South Africa or any of the other teams will actually win the tournament, but if one of them gets a long way then it’ll be great for the World Cup, I’m sure all the neutrals will get behind them.

There are plenty of empty seats at the Greece- South Korea game which is a shame, but we shouldn’t forget it’s probably a very big stadium, and it’s hardly a huge game. Also, it’s hard to tell how many there are considering the seats and the Korean fans are the same colour!

And, like Jonathan Legard, we’re simply going to have to learn to accept those vuvuzelas…

It would be a lot better if the BBC had DC commentating instead of JL. At least DC knows what’s he’s talking about, unlike JL. I find him the only real ‘flaw’ in the BBC’s coverage. Another thing I always wondered about… Why don’t the BBC offer any competitions for us fans? ITV always gave away tickets to GPs and various other things.

The BBC can’t give away prizes now after they were rigging/too lazy to properly run their competitions a few years back

  • Profile picture of Gurpz Gurpz said 2 years, 11 months ago:

Was that concerning Blue Peter or something else?

  • Profile picture of James_mc James_mc said 2 years, 11 months ago:

Blue Peter was certainly one of the things, I’m pretty sure a Radio program and Dick and Dom were culpable too. (Obviously not Dick and Dom themselves…)

What a shame. Would’ve been a good thing for them if they were able to offer prizes to us fans. Oh well.

    Cheers for the info.

Poor play by Greece today. I can see what they were trying to do but it doesn’t work for them. As ugly as it might be to some, their old possession tactics got them results.

England will be rightly disappointed to draw with the States, but they didn’t exactly walk all over them.

I missed the other game – how are Argentine doing?

  • Profile picture of Ned Flanders Ned Flanders said 2 years, 11 months ago:

Argentina won- I didn’t see the game but apparently they played quite well.

Big shame for England. We weren’t exactly good, but obviously our main problem was Robert Green’s howler. I feel pretty sorry for him- his confidence must’ve been absolutely atomised after that

Germany looked awesome today. Really hope the tournament improves from here, some of the first few games have been dire.

  • Profile picture of Ned Flanders Ned Flanders said 2 years, 11 months ago:

Yeah there have been a few duds so far. No doubt which of the international sporting events served up the most excitment today!

Everyone game has been rubbish so far apart from Germany. Bring on Brazil, please save this tournament.

rfs – I bet many teams can look awesome against Australia!

I saw the last few minutes of the England game and have to say I was pretty disappointed. They seemed to be playing their usual game of passing the ball around in their own half then hoofing it aimlessly up-field. But I’m not expert. Felt sorry for the goalkeeper, that new ball looks a bit tricky.

I usually enjoy following England in the World Cup but it’s not doing anything for me this year. I blame the vuvuzelas. I see the BBC is trying to arrange a ‘vuvuzela-free’ audio feed!
