Not really sure what to say after this shocking incident after a spectator drove their road car onto the circuit during a race

I’m gonna stop looking at the comments before I lose my faith in humanity. Justifying his actions by saying no one was killed is like justifying Kim Jong-Un being in power because he hasn’t set off a nuke yet.

It’s stupid but in the end if they crash they’re the ones without the helmet and protective gear so they’re the ones going to get injured if they cause a crash. Darwin’s survival of the fittest and all that.

@olliekart The youtube comments section is where human decency goes to die.

Good. Hope he gets a serious punishment for it.

The bigger crime is not understanding which way to hold a camera. The only thing more nonsensical than holding a video camera portrait is failing to even do that without a 30 degree tilt.

    What an utter cretin.

Here’s a view from the side of the track:

    And a local press report:

    http://www.kentonline.co.uk/dartford/news/brands-hatch-idiot-video-condemned-18663/

“With 26 teams or so in play at an average cost per team of say £4,000, then he could be looking at £104,000 plus legal fees in compensation. That will wipe the smile of his stupid face for many years to come!”

That doesn’t have to be the case. They could hit a marshal or cause other cars to crash. Apart from material damages (we all know national circuits and cups aren’t doing that amazing financially) there could have been innocent people hurt as well.

That being said; how on earth did the officials and marshals let this happen? I’ve seen people suspended at Zandvoort for letting a car through pit exit when the light was red, I seriously hope the organization take a good look at themselves too.

But not as hard as the justice department looks at the morons who did this.

Not to mention, he was only full throttle in stupidity… he could have gone much faster than that on the track if he was using full throttle! So there was never going to be a crash when he was going so slowly (unless his hysterical GF actually grabbed the wheel suddenly and caused one, or one of the competitors was caught out by a random car going so slowly on an apex and rear-ended him).

Thus, It’ll be interesting to see if the legal battle goes anywhere… wonder if he’ll ‘give one’ then! His actions certainly caused a red flag and cost the competitors a lot of track time, hassle, not to mention the numerous implications for club racing.
